Change Role

The purpose of VIA3 Meeting Roles is to provide the Host with the ability to control who can be seen and heard and the level of control each meeting participant has over the meeting. A Host can instantly change any participant’s Meeting Role at any time; however, meeting invitees who have been promoted to the level of Host cannot change the Role of the original Host.

There are four methods to change the role of a meeting participant:

  1. Click on the Change Role toolbar button.

  2. Right click on the participant's video pane and select "Change Role To Audience" or "Change Role To Host" to change the participant's role to audience or host, respectively.

  3. Right click on the participant's name in the People Pane and select "Change Role To Audience", "Change Role To Presenter" or "Change Role To Host" to change the participant's role to audience, presenter or host, respectively.

  4. Select Actions>Change Role from the meeting window menu for a list of all the available participants and their current roles.  Within this list, select the intended participant and choose the role you wish for them to fulfill from the selections on the right side of the list.

The Host Role:

  1. Can change anyone’s Meeting Role.

  2. Can remove anyone from the meeting.

  3. Can invite anyone to the meeting.

  4. A Host’s audio and video can be heard and seen by all meeting participants.

The Presenter Role:

  1. Can change other Presenters’ and Audience members’ roles, but not the Host’s role.

  2. A Presenter’s audio and video can be heard and seen by all meeting participants.

The Audience Role:

  1. Can see and hear all Hosts and Presenters.

  2. Can communicate through the Chat window.

Note: The default role for the person who starts the meeting is Host.  The default role for all other meeting participants is Presenter.
