Audio/Video Properties - Audio Tab

The Audio Tab displays your automatic settings, your speaker volume and microphone levels. To change your automatic audio settings for this and future meetings, simply check or un-check the boxes that match your preferred settings.

General:

  1. Automatically send my audio when joining a meeting, if checked, will automatically begin sending your audio signal to other meeting participants as soon as you join a meeting.

  2. Automatically receive audio from people joining the meeting, if checked, will automatically play others’ audio signals as soon as you and they are in the meeting.

  3. The Audio Configuration selection list box contains four options, choose the option that best suits your environment:

Microphone:

  1. Select the microphone you wish to use from the drop-down list. You should not have to change your selection unless you are experiencing audio difficulties.

  2. Adjust your microphone sensitivity by speaking aloud into your microphone. You will notice the colored sensitivity indicator move as you speak - the desired level is "mid-yellow".If you are unable to get the sensitivity level to "mid-yellow", click on the Mic Boost check box.

  3. If others complain about your volume level in a meeting, return to this menu and uncheck the Mic Boost check box.

  4. You can verify your microphone settings by recording your voice and playing it back.

Speakers:

Adjust your speaker volume by clicking the "Voice Sample" button and adjusting the volume to your liking.

For Desktop Speaker and Conference Room environments the volume should be set between 75-80%; other adjustments can be made on the speakers themselves to allow Echo Cancellation to work properly.

Internet Connection Speed

If your internet connection speed is known to be slow (56k - 100K) then select the "Optimize audio for 56k modem" check box. This will automatically set your video to off and prevent other's video from being sent to your computer. The audio quality will also change because VIA3 will adjust its "coder/decoder" algorithms to accommodate the lower connection speed.
